A healthy body aids in developing the mind and the soul. As you get older, good nutrition plays an increasingly important role in how well you age. Eating a low-salt, low-fat diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and fiber can actually reduce your age-related risks of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, osteosporosis and other chronic diseases. By eating a wide variety of foods, you can pretty easily get what your body needs.
There are two types of belly fat hiding your abs. The first is subcutaneous fat which is the top layer of fat. It lies under the skin, but on top of your abdominal muscles. The second type is visceral fat, which lies under your a muscles and surrounds your organs. This fat makes your stomach stick out like a beer gut, and is a harder form of fat than the subcutaneous fat. Both are dangerous, but studies show that the lower level of fat leads to greater risk of heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea.
1. Gaining Muscle. When you're trying to lose weight, a phrase you might hear is, "you're not losing weight because you're gaining muscle from all that working out." Most people want to believe this because it sounds so nice. Burning fat and gaining muscle at the same time is basically everyone's goal. Believing this is actually taking place will set you back even further. Losing weight is a process that happens a lot quicker than gaining muscle. While you can lose about 2 pounds per week, gaining 2 pounds of muscle per week takes a lot longer.
